If you’ve been looking for a new song to learn with a ukulele video lesson, “More Than Love” could be just what you’ve needed. If you have never heard “More Than Love” by the Los Lonely Boys, or if you haven’t heard it in a while, take a moment to stream it online, or even buy the track. It’s a great song for starters, but now listen to it with your ukulele in mind. You can quickly see (and hear) just how great it will sound on the uke!
The Los Lonely Boys, from San Angelo, Texas are famous for playing what they dub “Texican Rock and Roll”, which is a great blend of blues, soul, country, Tejano, and rock music. They’ve proven to be very popular since their debut in 2004 with their single “Heaven” which went to the top spot on the Adult Contemporary chart. The band consists of three brothers – Henry, JoJo, and Ringo Garza. Their father was also a well-respected musician, so it is easy to see where they got their talent.
They were performing as a cover band for several years before they began recording their own music. They have been featured on a number of television shows including Austin City Limits, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Saturday Night Live, and the Jimmy Kimmel Show. They are Grammy winners and have had several of their songs nominated for this prestigious award, including “More Than Love”.
This love song has relatively simple lyrics, but that’s the beauty of a good love song. It resonates with so many because everyone understands the feelings of the singer, and that’s one of the reasons the song has become so popular.
The song has been recorded in both English and Spanish, so you should listen to both versions to understand how they sound and then decide whether you want to learn to sing the song along with the uke in Spanish or English. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you can still probably learn the lyrics and apply them. However, it’s a better bet to learn the English version first while you are learning to play the song. At that point, it will be easier to learn the Spanish and sing it while playing.
Learning to play “More Than Love” might seem difficult when you first hear the song, but it’s actually simpler than you might think on the ukulele. Just as you do with all of the songs you learn, take it slow and learn a piece at a time. This will let your mind wrap around the intricacies of the song so that it makes sense when you put it all together.
When you finally put the song together, you are going to love how it sounds on your ukulele. If you are a fan, or if you are just discovering the song now, make it a part of your repertoire.Return to Home Page
