On one of our trips to Hawaii, we found the Kamaka factory and took a tour of the factory. We're Filipino-Americans, so we grew up with the sounds of the ukulele and many of our friends are from the Islands. The tone of the Kamaka ukes is so clear, so beautiful. On that first trip we purchased a soprano ukulele. On the next trip, we purchased a tenor ukulele. One year my husband and I went camping and took both of the ukuleles with us. Neither one of us really plays, but we bought a beginner book and learned some of chords on our own. We even learned to play "Over the Rainbow." Now I want to be a little more serious about learning, so I've signed up for a class at the local junior college. It's exciting!
