On a trip to Hawaii, I wanted to buy a ukulele that was made in Hawaii by Hawaiians. Originally I planed on buying a KoAloha, but none were available. I visited Lahaina Music in Maui and they showed me a Kamaka and made a deal on the price and said if I bought the uke they would include a hard case for free! The uke is a solid Koa top, sides and bottom. The neck is mahogany and the fret board is rosewood. The face plate is curly Koa. Finish is gloss. I could not pass it up and made the purchase. I love the uke and play it everyday. BTW..I was just a beginner. A very worth while investment!!!
